Upside Down Bouncing Off the Ceiling!

Hello community of Waterblogged. It has been a while since my last post so I will try to give you a little update on what is happening in the life of Sean Uranga. You think you know me? You don’t know nothing! This is the diary of Sean Uranga.

I had this weird dream last night where I was taking part in an event for my EMT class. As I was waiting in line there was this girl behind me that had on this shirt. She was a pretty hefty girl (some would say, “She’s so HEAVY!”) and it granted me ample viewing space for what the shirt displayed. It was white and long sleeved and on the front it said, “WaterBlogged!” I thought to myself wow, that is neat. On the shirt were also printed the names of the authors in cool design. I asked her where she was from and she said Alabama. I asked what part and she told me Rural Alabama. At the time I thought she meant a city named rural, but now that I am awake I feel stupid for saying, oh I know where that is. I said that I was from Prattville, or P-Vegas. She said neat and the dream ended with me eating alone at Red Robin.

On a different note, the National Amateur Dance Sport competition was held this past week and yours truly competed in the bronze level Cha Cha competition. It started really early in the morning (7:30 is when we had to show up!) and I quickly met my partner. I wish I had taken pictures so that I could paint a better picture for all of you. Anyways, we got our number (761) and waited. The Lady soon called all of us to line up in numerical order and so we complied. We could hear the people going onto the floor and dancing and my nerves began to wain. I got the nervous bathroom jitters and told my partner that I would be right back. The line wasn’t moving and we were way in the back so I figured that I had plenty of time. I walked into the bathroom and all of the stalls were in use. I waited by one and almost threw up the smell was so terrible. Eventually a stall opened and I did some bathroom things. Upon leaving the bathroom I noticed that the line that I was in was completely gone. I thought to myself oh crap and ran to the front of the line. My partner ran up to me saying, Sean we missed it! Where were you! This made me feel even worse. The last few people were just entering the dance floor so we ran on behind them. I don’t think we looked too out of place, I mean numbers 865, 866, 867, 868, 869, 870, 761. That is pretty much the same group right? The dance floor is actually the basketball court, but it had this cool floor spread that they put on over it. So just to give you an idea for size, this was pretty big. My partner and I danced and cha cha’d our little toesies off and then the heat ended. They then had all of the couples get on the floor and dance a cha cha song. There were over 200 hundred couples dancing on the floor at once. This means many stepped on feet and collisions. Somehow my partner and I survived. We then watched the samba and waltz competitions while they were deciding on call backs for the Cha Cha competition. They put the list of numbers on the jumbotron hanging above the court and to my surprise, 761 was still there. That meant that my partner and I could dance again! Yay! We waited in line and got to be good friends with the people behind us, number 762. We danced again and made it. Upon completion of the third round we lined up again after qualifying when disaster struck. Our friends never showed up. It was a sad experience. It reminded me of Star Wars when Luke and Biggs meet each other again and they are like, let’s catch up after we blow up the death star, and then Biggs dies. I felt like I was saying, let’s talk after the dance heat, and they lost. So sad. Anyways. We got to the second to last round in the morning session when disaster struck. My partner and I had a kind of routine going on. We basically did the exact same thing every heat. Well, as we were doing our triple cha cross over break we ran into another couple. This kind of distracted me a little. We were supposed to come out of it with the crocodile hand hold to end with a walk around turn, but instead I gave her a regular hand hold. (<- So Stupid!) She started turning and I remained the same. She completed her turn and we just rolled with it. We thought for sure that we were done for. Such a mistake would surely cost us the contest, but to our surprise, we stayed in. Then we got to the final round of the morning session. Round 6 of 9. We danced and danced having fun when disaster struck again. The exact same thing happened. Another couple collided with us at the end of our triple cha cross over break. i gave her the wrong hand hold again, but this time I turned as she didn’t. It wouldn’t have been so bad, but she wouldn’t let go of my hand. I was almost 3/4 of the way turned when I felt this huge tug on my arm. I immediately knew what had happened, but eventually broke free of her iron grip and we kept on dancing. Although we never lost the beat, it must have looked really sloppy. True to our fears, we didn’t get called back for the afternoon session. It was a lot of fun doing it though. I know some people on the ballroom dance team and they were dancing it up like crazy. I wish I could show you some things that they did. Like the Tango, man was that cool. I am excited to do it again next year. Maybe I will get into the Latin dance class and compete Samba. That would be cool.

Yesterday BYU EMS was holding a training session for a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI). The incident was a school shooting in one of the school cafeterias. I volunteered to be a victim and I was a shotgun blast victim. I went to makeup before and they cut up my shirt and made me look all shot up. The guy that did my makeup though really stank and by the time he was done it looked like I fell on a bunch of keys instead of being shot with a shotgun. Some people got done up really well though. We were shuttled to the cafeteria and got into our positions (Just to let you know the cafeteria is no longer in use, so it is abandoned). My wound was right in the center of my torso, so kind of in between my lungs and heart and my intestines. Like right at the diaphragm. I put some fake blood and water in my mouth to make it look like I was vomiting up blood and I don’t think that is what the EMS crew was expecting. They did the initial triage and I was flagged as a red. They eventually came back and worked on me. I was hoping that they would suction my mouth, but they didn’t, they just pretended to and had me spit it out. They back-boarded me and took me out of the cafeteria. During the event I was wheezing and gurgling and trying to so hard to look like I was having problems breathing and throwing up that I actually threw up. It was kind of gross. They had to tip me over to one side when we got out so that they could clear my airway. I was also crying like crazy. They laid me down on the grass and then went in to fetch some more people. I faked another throw up and that got people’s attention and they hauled me off to where the ambulance was. While I was there they finally started working on me, and by working on me they just said, Yep, he needs transport, oh! Roll him over he’s throwing up! Eventually they said that I was done and I felt a huge wave of relief. I enjoy breathing normal. One of my biggest complaints is that I had all this major bleeding and no one bandaged me. I think that I would surely be dead right now. It was a lot of fun though. There was this one girl that barely had a cut on her face from a pipe bomb and she was running around screaming hysterically at all of the EMTs telling them what to do. She won the oscar that is for sure. She was just balling her eyes out yelling at everyone that they needed to save a certain someone or that they were ignoring one of her friends or something like that. It was neat. But, among all of the chaos, there was a miracle, a baby was delivered. Cool. I think that I will try and get some pictures up of some of the wounds.
Oh yeah, my throat is really sore from yesterday.
Have a nice day.

“Oh, what a feeling!
When we’re dancing on the ceiling
The room is hot…that’s good
Some of my friends came
By from the neighbourhood
People were starting
To climb the walls
Ooh, it looks like everybody
Is having a ball”

That picture is pretty damn awesome. But, you know, dancing has always been the devil. Sarah and I did some ballroom waltzing, I think, last year and it was a truckload of fun. Dancing is really cool, and I’m glad you got so far in your competition.

And i’ll show you a Red Robin!
