Sam Gone Wild!!!

Samsonite

So I had orientation for the big campus last Friday. Freaking brilliant! I totally cannot wait to move out of the house and start living the real college life. I still don’t know which dorms I’ll be staying in. I just hope I get coupled up with a chick I can get along with.

Anyway, back to the orientation. Everyone was split off into seperate groups after the greeting. My group consisted of the engineering people. There were about nine of us all together…and yeah, I was the only girl. In addition to that, I was the only one who belonged to the Polymer Engineering School. Figures.

A couple of the guys were complete dweebs. Haha! But all of them were really nice. I’ll probably be seeing them around later in the year. Some of the orientation sessions were corny, but overall, I enjoyed it. In the middle of it all, the various groups broke up. When mine rejoined, someone referred to me as the “token girl.” Later on, the guys tried to convert more girls into our group. How pathetic. :D

I was able to visit my advisor, who was awesome enough to have already registered me for classes. All I remember is Statics, some Polymer Intro class, and a computer class using Matlab (I’ve never used that before, so it should be interesting). I can already tell my advisor is gonna be like a second mom to me. I asked her how many people are in the school, and she said about FORTY!!! Goodness…So then I asked her about how many people I can expect to be in my actual polymer classes; she said about half a dozen. Crazy! Yep, I’m gonna get to know these people really well. I’m gonna have a new family!

I met up with one of my future professors to talk about working with her over the summer. She said she’d let me, but in the end we decided it’d be best to wait til the fall. I’d get paid, like $6 an hour. So, I’d probably lose money driving back and forth. It’s not really about the money though. The experience and the chance to improve my resume is what I’m after. By the way, my professor is from Argentina, and I love her accent.

In the meantime, my advisor is trying to hook me up with a sweet job in the summer…closer to home. We’ll see how that turns out.

Things are looking up. I haven’t been this excited about something for a really long time. Heck yeah!!!

Sorry if this is rushed. I’m still at school, and I need to get crackin on a lab report. Peace out!

So what exactly are you doing?

I’m not quite sure as to what you’re referring to. To summarize, I plan on working my butt off this summer, transfering to another school in the fall, and getting a job working for my professor.

No I mean Polymer Engineering, what is that?

And I don’t get the title, Sam Gone Wild, did you do all of this topless or something. Where’s the wild. Did you ride a tiger or even speak to them maybe, like a Wild Thornberry. What ever happen to that show. Who cares it sucks, bring back Rocko’s Modern Life, could you do that for me Sam?

    COULD YOU!?

Sigh….Stephen, if I lose one more comment in the void beyond the Internet, I’m going to cry.

Sam, what I went to ask is, what is Polymer Engineering? I also went on to say, what’s so “Wild” about this post, topless Wild Thornberries followed, and something else. Just forget…..it.

    Arrrrgh! What’s going on?

  8. Author Icon Samsonite

What do you mean, “What’s goin on?”

  9. Author Icon Spectrum

Seriously, Sam, what is Polymer Engineering?

Polymer Engineering and Fiber Engineering make up what used to be Textile Engineering. Basically, I’ll be working with materials made up of something called “polymers.” I suppose it’s like Chemical Engineering, only more specialized. It’s hard to explain.

No, I haven’t gone wild yet, but I plan on letting go once I move out. Who knows just how extreme I’ll become.

I liked the Wild Thornberries. And with Rocko…I’ll see what I can do. Just for you, Billy.

And what’s the deal with the whole “comment awaiting moderation”?

Oh, that’s just something I do for your comments. I have the system setup to look for words like “Sam” and “Samsonite,” and then block them. It makes it easier to filter out your comments… I kid. The comment moderation bit is to help cut back on actual spam, but occasionally flags a legitimate comment and puts it in moderation. I then manually go into the comment moderation list and sort the good from the bad, so often there is a lag between when you post a comment that is flagged and when it actually gets published.

    I knew it!
